The First Annual SAGES Foundation Fundraiser
Join your friends and colleagues for a classic Hollywood Gala. We may not be
giving away any “Oscars” but we have “trocars” galore, along
with our version of the red carpet celebrity interview, merrymaking and a calories-don’t-count
dessert buffet. A chance to support the Foundation, laugh
and enjoy a fun evening with friends! A portion of your ticket purchase price
is deductible as a charitable contribution. The portion of the ticket price
which is not deductible is $35. The remainder of the ticket price qualifies
as a charitable deduction to the extent allowed by law.

See the “Broadway Historic Theatre District.” Your guide will lead
you INSIDE some of America’s most beautiful original picture palaces and
historic buildings including the Palace Theatre, Warner Bros. Downtown Theatre,
Grand Central Market (a European style food hall), the opulent ballrooms of
the Biltmore Hotel, Central Library, Clifton’s Cafeteria, the Art Deco
landmark Edison and Title Guarantee Buildings and the extraordinarily beautiful
Bradbury Building.
Downtown L.A. has the largest contiguous concentration of historic pre-WW2 architecture in America. It is often used as a movie “back lot” for turn-of-the-century New York or Chicago. Los Angeles is a world center for contemporary art. Stars of the worlds of art and architecture such as Frank Gehry, Thom Mayne, David Hockney and Robert Graham call Los Angeles their home.
On this tour, visit the new world-class contemporary Cathedral of Our Lady
of the Angels, designed by famed Spanish architect Jose Rafael Moneo. We journey
through the Cathedral’s awe-inspiring interior where the natural light
is filtered by the world’s largest installation of alabaster windows and
visit America’s largest underground mausoleum. Then we visit fantastic
Modernist sites such as the Los Angeles Music Center, Colburn School, Well’s
Fargo Center and DWP Building, as well as Post-Modern edifices such as the Library
Tower Gas Co. Tower, MoCA, and Frank Gehry’s fantasy-like Disney Hall.
You’ll also see artwork by Alexander Calder, Louise Nevelson, Joan Miro,
Robert Rauschenberg and Frank Stella.
After the tour, relax and enjoy a great lunch at Joachim Splichal’s Patinette Café in the plaza at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA). After lunch, you will have time to visit the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA).
